Cantara
was formed in 1998.
An Edinburgh based Celtic/world music band, the lineup is currently Highland Pipes, spanish and electric Guitars, Electric Bass, Vocals, Whistle, Drums and Percussion.

Cantara members originate from various musical backgrounds.
As a result of our contrasting backgrounds we have developed a unique fusion of styles.

The band has featured on 'Celtic Connections' (Radio Scotland) and has made live appearances on WAM TV, Tartan TV, Cable TV and Sky TV
These performances took place on the Ross Band Stand -Princes Street Gardens 2002, 2003 and 2004) as part of the Edinburgh international festival.


Cantara won the Danny Kyle award at Celtic Connections festival Glasgow 2003.
As a consequence of our success at Celtic Connections Cantara performed alongside "The Afro Celts"(main stage GRCH) and" Ali Mullers World Orchestra"(The Barrowlands) during Glasgows Celtic Connections festival 2004)

We have also appeared at the 'Tinto Folk Festival '98/''99' & ' Dunbar Folk Festival '98', Knockengorragh festival 2004
Cantara have been venturing further afield in the last few
years with a short tours of italy in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
Cantara's album 'Celtic World' is available at most record stores in Edinburgh,
